Terms of Use

Last updated 22 July 2026

1. About Zippl & acceptance of terms

In these Terms of Use, "we", "us" and "our" refers to Donovan Price, trading as Zippl Technologies (ABN 63 420 101 424) (referred to as "Zippl"). Zippl is a mobile application for scanning receipts and splitting expenses. By downloading, accessing, or using Zippl, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility and minimum age

Zippl is provided for personal, non-commercial use. You must be at least 13 years old to use Zippl. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, you represent that you have reviewed these terms with your parent or legal guardian and obtained their consent to use the service.

3. Plans and subscriptions

Free Plan: New accounts include 5 receipt scans during your first 14 days, followed by an ongoing allowance of 1 scan per calendar month. Receipts and splits on the Free Plan are stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. Equal (÷ N) bill splitting on previously scanned receipts is available on the free allowance.

Zippl Core subscription: Zippl Core is an auto-renewable monthly subscription including 30 receipt scans per calendar month. Receipts and splits on Zippl Core are stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple CloudKit, the same as the Free Plan. Equal (÷ N) bill splitting is included. Itemized QR/link splitting and accounting export are not included — they require Zippl Plus.

Zippl Plus subscription: Zippl Plus is an auto-renewable subscription unlocking high-volume receipt scanning, itemized QR/link bill splitting, accounting export (Xero), and spending trends. Receipts on Zippl Plus are stored by us (see the Privacy Policy), which is what makes itemized splitting and accounting export possible.

For all paid plans, payment is charged to your Apple ID Account upon purchase confirmation. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime via your Apple Account Settings.

Changing plans: Moving from Zippl Core to Zippl Plus takes effect immediately. Moving from Zippl Plus to Zippl Core takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Because Zippl Core stores receipts in your own iCloud, receipts we hold for you under Zippl Plus will no longer appear in the app once the change takes effect. They are not deleted, and resubscribing to Zippl Plus restores access — but you should export them before the change takes effect. The app will warn you while the change is pending.

4. Fair use & prohibited activity

Zippl is designed for individual personal expense tracking. To maintain platform sustainability and security, every plan is subject to a monthly scanning limit alongside automated rate limits: 1 scan per calendar month on the Free Plan after the initial 14-day allowance, 30 scans per calendar month on Zippl Core, and a fair-use cap of 500 receipt scans per calendar month on Zippl Plus.

You agree not to:

5. AI receipt parsing & accuracy disclaimer

Receipt data extraction is performed automatically using artificial intelligence models and optical character recognition software. OCR and AI parsing can occasionally misinterpret dates, totals, merchant names, or line items.

User responsibility: You are strictly responsible for reviewing and verifying the accuracy of all extracted receipt data, merchant names, tax amounts, and totals before relying on them for reimbursements, tax filings, or expense allocation. We do not warrant that extraction calculations or payment amounts are error-free.

6. Not financial or tax advice (ATO record-keeping disclaimer)

Zippl is a digital productivity and bill-splitting tool only. It does not provide financial, accounting, legal, or statutory tax advice.

Compliance with ATO guidelines: You remain solely responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records in accordance with requirements set by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) or relevant foreign tax authorities (such as retaining legible tax invoices and original receipts for required statutory periods, typically 5 years). Zippl does not guarantee that scanned images or exported backup files satisfy statutory audit standards set by revenue authorities.

7. User content & intellectual property licence

You retain all ownership rights, copyright, and intellectual property in the receipt images and text data you submit to Zippl.

By uploading receipt images or text, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, limited licence to host, store, process, extract, display, and transmit such content solely to the extent necessary to provide, maintain, and operate the Zippl application for you and your designated split participants.

8. Data retention, backups, and data loss

Zippl provides local export features ("Back Up My Data") enabling you to save copies of your receipt data and images to external storage or iCloud Drive. Maintaining independent external backups of critical records is your responsibility.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, corruption, or temporary unavailability of receipt images, split records, or account data arising from service outages, cloud backend maintenance, or device loss.

9. Statutory guarantees & Australian Consumer Law (ACL)

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any statutory right, remedy, or guarantee conferred on you by the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) contained in Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited.

If you are a consumer under the ACL, our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded. Subject to those statutory guarantees, Zippl is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Where the law permits us to limit our liability for breach of a non-excludable statutory guarantee, our liability is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having the service supplied again.

10. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You irrevocably submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and the Commonwealth of Australia for resolving any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms.

11. Modifications to terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Use as Zippl evolves. Updated versions will be published on our website with an updated "last updated" date. Continued use of Zippl following changes indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
